I was recently contacted by the lovely people behind Pure Almond almondmilk, Silk, and was thrilled to get the opportunity to work with them on a review and giveaway. I had never tried an almondmilk before and I felt really happy that my first taste came from Silk. I have drank and enjoyed Silk Vanilla flavored Soy Milk and so I had a gut feeling that their Pure Almond almondmilk would be just as tasty. I do have to say that I enjoy soy and rice milk, so I think the transition to almondmilk was easy for me. I think for someone who has never broadened their horizons it would be a little bit more difficult, just because it is different. That being said, I thought it was delicious! I tried the Vanilla Pure Almond and fell in love.
So I know you have to be asking why almondmilk? Check out this information from the Silk Pure Almond website:
"It's the almonds. Every little nut is a perfectly packaged powerhouse of natural antioxidants and more.
Almonds are recognized by health professionals as a nutritious addition to a healthy diet. A serving of almonds provides an excellent source of vitamin E (a natural antioxidant), and a good source of protein and fiber. In fact, almonds are higher in protein and fiber than any other tree nut. Plus, they're naturally low in saturated fat and cholesterol-free.
It doesn’t take much to get from whole, natural almonds to Silk Pure Almond™ almondmilk. Each glass provides an excellent source of natural antioxidants and as much calcium and vitamin D as dairy milk, with absolutely no cholesterol, saturated fat, dairy or soy. And, best of all, a serving of Silk Pure Almond Original almondmilk is only 60 calories, and a delicious glass of Vanilla is just 90."
Isn't that awesome? I do love almonds, which is another reason why I figured drinking them would be tasty!
I tried the vanilla plain in a glass and loved it, but if you are new to all of these alternative dairy products, then I personally suggest picking up a carton and whipping up a delicious smoothie! I made one and it was delicious! Silk Pure Almond has a variety of recipies involving Pure Almond almondmilk that you can check out here.
All in all I really enjoyed my almondmilk experience and am truly happy to have gotten my first sip through a reliable company like Silk!
