GIANTmicrobes Review

Another product I knew I wanted to include in my list of educational reviews were the incredibly cute GIANTmicrobes. We recently got a doctor kit and I turned an area of the playroom in our new house into a "doctor" area where the kids can listen to their baby's heartbeats and fix them up. I thought a GIANTmicrobe was in order to help teach my children about germs. I am 100% thrilled with this product and how well my children responded to learning and playing with it!

So what are GIANTmicrobes?

Adorable stuffed germs. I know that sounds a little funny, but that is what they are! These little guys are 1,000,000x+ the actual size!

We were sent Measles and my little ones got a huge kick out of it. Thanks to vaccinations, my children should be protected from getting this, but it's still fun to learn about. Millions of people still get Measles every year despite a vaccine that is so spot on! I also think it is such an adorable germ! Each GIANTmicrobe shows a picture of what the actual organism looks like and includes a ton of facts!

Here are a few facts that came with our Measles:

Telltale symptoms of Measles are body-covering red spots often accompanied by a mild fever. Measles is a respiratory disease that can lead to life threatening conditions such as pneumonia.

The good news is that in 1963 scientists synthesized a vaccine from a live virus and nearly all children in the developed world are now inoculated against measles!

Interestingly, Measles should not be confused with German Measles, which is caused by a completely different virus.

I love that there is such a fun and educational way to teach our little ones about the different viruses, microbes and germs out there. We can show them these and teach them about them before they go in for routine vaccinations. I know it will help my children understand a little bit more.

Our Measles GIANTmicrobe has a permanent place in our doctor station and I hope we can add many more! We also found a variety of these adorable guys in the doctor station at our local children's museum. That totally made my day!

Measles can be purchased for $8.95 on the GIANTmicrobes website, along with a whole slew of other viruses!

I know this sounds so silly, but my daughter did get a Staph infection a few months back, so I feel compelled to buy the Staph giant microbe to keep for her! Look how interesting:

I am extremely happy I got to review a product from GIANTmicrobes. I recommend these to anyone wanting to teach their children about the vaccines they get! They also make hilarious gifts for holidays like Valentines Day.

I want to say a HUGE thank you to the lovely people over at GIANTmicrobes for this amazing review opportunity. Thank you for putting up with my flood and then moving!

Disclaimer: I received free product to review. I was not paid to write this and all opinions are my own!

  1. VERY cute. Though I did get a medically-documented case of measles in college despite being vaccinated. They're not as effective as you might think. :)
