Fab Fitteds! Plus a Contest!

Doesn't Fab say it all? No? Okay, then I will!

Awhile back I was fortunate enough to test out Thirsties' new Duo Wrap and I fell completely in love with them. I already adored their regular covers, so I had a hunch I would love the new improved and longer lasting ones! Anything frugal AND eco friendly makes me doubly happy.

I was then contacted by the lovely company again and was asked to review a Fab Fitted and of course I couldn't say no!

Okay so I'm going to start with the need to know info and then get on to my own little opinions :)

These come in 4 sizes:

X-Small - 6 to 12 pounds
Small - 12 to 18 pounds
Medium - 18 to 28 pounds
Large - 28 to 40 pounds

My 9 month old weighs about 16 pounds I would guess and that is being generous since at 7 months she was only 14 pounds 10 ounces haha so she may only be around 15 pounds. I requested to try out a medium just because I wanted the most use out of it and it fits her fairly well. I have to overlap the tabs(did I mention they had these amazing babies??) and it is still a TINY bit loose but barely at all. I know she will be able to get a whole bunch of use out of this diaper and that makes me happy! Again, I love frugal!

Find a retailer near you here:

http://www.thirstiesbaby.com/retailers.htm

These diapers feature hook and loop closure. I know some cloth diaper users dont use hook and loop, but hear me out, this kind of closure is truley the only way to get a good custom and snug fit. I love snaps too but I also love hook and loop for this very reason. The Fab Fitted diapers are very trim fitting because of the hook and loop and this is yet another reason why I love them so much.

I also love that it is a fitted and NOT an all in one because I always find that seperate pieces dry faster, although I have never tried their Pocket AIO. Maybe this one does dry faster? hmmm maybe I will have to test it next! If anyone can give me insight to the Pocket AIO by Thirsties please do!

Okay so I was skimming back over the website and came across an answer to my question above.

"We are often asked, "Why would I consider purchasing a 2-piece system when I can invest in Thirsties Pocket All-In-One (AIO) diapers for about the same price?" The answer is simple...a Thirsties Fab Fitted paired with a Thirsties Diaper Cover offers superior leakproof protection! Why? Because fitted cloth diapers offer an additional elasticized barrier around the legs and waist that makes it much tougher for anything to escape beyond the diaper cover."

So there is my answer and though I have never tried the Pocket AIO, I see how this makes sense and maybe this is yet another reason why I love them so much? No leaks here! I would like to see how the Pocket AIO compares though!

Their website says these diapers are meant to hug a baby's body and they really truly do. I absolutely love the fit and the trimness.

Okay, so the internal soaker of the Fab Fitted is microfiber terry. This fabric can hold up to 7 times it's weight in liquid! I had no idea that it could hold that much, but I believe it. It can hold a maximum of 18 ounces! The fabric that touches baby's skin is a microfleece, which I adore. It is super soft and helps to wick away the wetness to the microfiber inner. The outside fabric is cotton velour, which makes this diaper so heavenly soft and luxurious feeling.

These diapers come in 8 colors, plus white! The colors available are:

Aqua, Butter, Celery, Lavender, Melon, Raspberry, Sky Blue and Periwinkle. I tested out a Melon, which is like day glo orange. I love it!

To wash, fold over the velcro tabs to the handy laundry tabs and wash on hot with 1/2 the recommended amount of additive free detergent. We use Charlies Soap in this house! Don't use any fabric softeners(I dont know why anyone familiar with cloth diapering would!) or bleach(This is horrible for a household anyways!). Dry on low or hang outside to dry(my fave!).

This is one of my favorite diapers to reach for. These Fab Fitteds give me super absorbency and they are so trim! We don't get that huge diaper butt under clothing like we would with bulkier fitteds, and for me, that is an added bonus!

I would (and have!) recommend these to all my cloth diaper friends and to any new mom who knows little about cloth diapering. These diapers make it easy and cost effective to cloth diaper. Anything that gets more people cloth diapering and more diapers out of landfills makes me a very happy mama!

Contest!

Okay here are all the juicy details! View and leave a comment on this post about why you already love Thirsties diapers or why you want to try them out as well as your email address. I will not solicit email addresses, this just gives me a for sure way to contact you once the contest is over. One lucky mama will win one Duo Wrap and one Fab Fitted of their size and color choices. After the contest ends, I will contact the lucky winner via email requesting your size and color choices as well as your mailing info. The prize will be shipped directly from the Thirsties company so I will be forwarding your information onto them. Each comment will be given a number from one to however many there are based on the order posted in. The winner will be chosen using random.org on Friday November 6th at midnight. The lucky winner will be contacted Saturday, November 7th and I will also post the winner on this blog the same day. I know this makes the contest a little long, but a weekend works better for me and I want it to be at least a week.

So remember:

This contest starts today, October 27th and ends Friday, November 6th at midnight.

The winner will be notified on the 7th of November via email. Please get back to me by Monday the 9th so I can give Thirsties your mailing info as well as color choices and sizes.

Thanks guys and good luck!

A BIG THANK YOU TO THIRSTIES FOR SPONSORING THIS GIVEAWAY!!!

  1. I LOVE Thirsties Fab Fitted diapers. My daughter is 2.5 & STILL wears a medium. We've been using them for over a year & their velcro has held up the best of any of our velcro diapers.

  21. I loved the x-small and small thirsties (better than proraps). I just got one of the larger size of Duo Wrap. It fits my 15 lb. 4 mo. old son OK on the smallest setting so I think I'll get a lot of use out of it. I have had Thirsties covers leak a few times when super soaked, but it is rare. I have never tried the Fab fitteds.

In any case, I'm all for the AIO diapers but willing to try something new. I'd LOVE to try Thirsties. I've seen them here and there at my favorite cloth diaper sites and I'm curious!

  32. A friend uses the Thirsties covers with a prefold and loves them. I would LOVE to try ANY of the Thirsties products for my little one due in December, particularly a Fab Fitted with a Duo Wrap! Sounds more convenient than a prefold. I really like the leg gussets to (hopefully) contain EBF poo!
