Skoy Cloth Review and Giveaway!

I think I am a relatively green person. I dont use paper plates. I drink out of glass cups and store my food in glass containers because of BPA dangers. I rarely use my dryer and I never heat dry my dishes in the dishwasher. I have to say though, we buy paper towels. Ack, I know, horrible. The truth is my husband will NOT let them go, and I cant make him. We use very little and a package of 8 rolls lasts us months, mostly because he works all day and I refuse to use them! Enter Skoy Cloth.

Owners of Skoy Cloth, Michelle and Karen were looking for a much more earth friendly cloth. They were shocked(and so am I!!) that 2.5 million TONS of paper towels fill our landfills annually. Think about that. That is a huge, serious number. That is JUST paper towels. Michelle fell in love with a similar cloth in Europe and couldn't find anything that compared here in the states. I agree! Sponges are disgusting and paper towels are wasteful. I always wondered why there was no middle ground! Karen and Michelle produce Skoy Cloth in a factory that is very environmentally aware. They only use renewable raw materials for Skoy Cloth. This makes me love it even more.

I got my Skoy Cloth and the first thing I noticed were the cute designs on them!

So the second thing I wanted to do was try it out! I didn't even wait! The instructions are easy and are as follows:

1) Wet the Skoy Cloth. Squeeze out excess moisture for best use. I used mine with my green cleaner, which is fine, but you can also just use water.

Did I mention there are no more steps? :) When Skoy cloth is past it's prime, use it for heavy duty cleaning. We dont use bleach in my house, but bleach use is not recommended. These babies can be used over and over again. It is like a sponge washcloth or something!

To care for Skoy cloth, it is recommended to dampen and microwave for about 2 minutes daily. This will sanitize it and kill any smell that may occur from bacteria. Ever notice how gross sponges get? These dont get that bad at all, but they do kinda work like a sponge, and should be washed. We wash ours in our dishwasher. You can also wash them in the washer and dryer. If you decide to microwave daily, MAKE SURE SKOY CLOTH IS WET TO AVOID FIRE. Whew, just wanted that disclaimer out there!

Skoy cloth is best used on hard surfaces!

Why do I love my Skoy cloth? It gives me even more reason to not use paper towels and it is 100% biodegradable! I couldn't be happier with these gems! They do exactly what they say they do! It's like reusing a strong paper towel over and over and over and....ok you get the point!

Some of you may be asking why it is better to dump a skoy cloth in a landfill versus a paper towel. Think about it. Skoy cloth can be used over and over. I dont care what Bounty says, I have never been able to run a paper towel under running water and keep on reusing it. One Skoy cloth can save an average of 15 rolls of paper towels from being put into a landfill. That is a huge help. Can you imagine if everyone used just one Skoy cloth instead of paper towels? That would make a huge impact.

  35. It is a European made product and 100% biodegradable because it is made from a natural cotton and wood-based cellulose pulp. SKOY cloth is a chlorine-free product using water-based colors and inks. After an independent composting test, SKOY cloth broke down completely within 5 weeks.
