HealthPod Baby Review and Giveaway! US and Canada Only!

HealthPod Baby started with three friends, their weddings, their Husbands, their lives and then three babies, along with three sets of milestones. That first smile, first step, first cold, first stitches(I just had that experience!). They came up with a brilliant idea to keep all of this information together, and that brilliant idea is called HealthPod Baby. A great place to keep all of your baby's vital health information together, from pregnancy and birth until they are 20. How awesome would that be to hand this to your child when they move out? That would bring such peace of mind.

When I first heard of this truly genius product, I was in awe. Thank goodness someone thought of this. I can't tell you how many times we have asked my Mother or Jon's Mother about things that have happened to us as kids. When did I get chickenpox? When did Jon get Lymes? It's hard to remember those little details. I can relate, I write everything that happens to my kids down because I do not want to forget. I feel like it is really important for them to know these things when they are older.

Recently, my Husband went to the doctor for the first time since I have known him(5 years!), and we didn't know anything! We had to call his Mom, and some things were hard for her to remember too. It got a little crazy trying to write down his family history and get all the information we needed. How nice would it have been to have all of that information in one place?

Enter HealthPod Baby.

Let me break this baby down for you. It is a zippered binder, which I love because nothing can fall out. If I am rushed I can throw a piece of paper in to deal with later and zip it right up. I also love that you can add pages and remove pages as you need. HealthPod Baby sells refills for it! Anyways, so you open it up and inside there is a zippered pouch to the left and a pen. You can also personalize the zipper pull with one of 4 different colored pulls they include with it! Oh, the pen is included too!

The first page in the HealthPod Baby is a "This Belongs to" page you can write your baby's name on. It also talks about how this product came to be and there is general information on how to use it. In this front section there are also calendar planning pages and calendars up to 2011.

The first tabbed section is titled Essential Information. In this section you can find an In Case of Emergency Page, Personal Information, Allergies, Health Contacts(like your doctor and dentist), Health Insurance, Distinguishing Characteristics(like scars and birth marks), it even tells you how to include a hair sample if ever they needed dna!

The second section is Health Visits. There are tons of pages in this section for every doctor's appointment your child has. This is a place to write your concerns down for the doctor and to write down any information he/she tells you. This is perfect especially if your child is on medications.

The third section is titled Birth. In here you will find 40 Weeks to Motherhood, all about your pregnancy with that child, Labour Support/Doula Visits, Testing, Labour and Birth Records, Labour Day, Special Delivery, The First Few Weeks, and A Healthy Start.

The fourth tab is called Growing up and here you can document Growth, there are growth charts and national averages, there is a section for all Stages of Development, like the first time they laugh, On the Menu(a breastfeeding or formula feeding log), Solid Food log, Dental Health and Dental Visits, and it include pages to help you figure out Potential Allergies.

Fifth, we have a tab titled Health History. There are places to write down Immunizations, Health Summary(what was wrong, the treatment, what meds given, etc), Specialized Assessments, and Hospitalizations and Surgeries.

Last but not least, we have Family History! This is the section my Husband and I needed! Here you can write down everything tht runs in the family.

The HealthPod Baby also comes with a Healthmark bookmark type thing that gives you questions that your doctor might ask, like "What are the symptoms?" and "Is your child running a fever?". By looking over these questions before an appointment, you wont be caught off guard when they are actually asked. I know this helps me not to have a brain fart and to know what questions are most likely to be asked!

It also has 2 sleeves for cards like appointment cards, or doctor's cards and 2 zippered pouches to keep things like hospital bracelets, shot records, and any other scraps of paper you want to save for your child. In the very back there is a nice pad of paper to use to jot down notes or information you get from a nurse over the phone! I love the practicalness and the handiness of this organizer.

Being an organizational Queen, this product was right up my alley, but I firmly believe every parent should have this product, or some kind of notebook to keep all of their child's information in one place. This is an inexpensive($59.95) organizer that your child can keep for life. It is durable, zippered and well put together. I know I am going to be doing my kids a favor and buying one of these for each of them. I also have the peace of mind of knowing that when I get old and forgetful, this baby can save me! No kids calling me up when they are 26 asking when they got stitches on their finger! woohoo!

Here is a sample page:

  46. I love how you can buy more inserts if you run out, so that this book will last a very long time as the child is growing up. I also love that you can put all your pregnancy stuff in it too. I didn't get my HealthPod with my daughter until she was a few months old, but I will for sure get one when I get pregnant with #2, that is if I don't win it instead!
