I support moms no matter what they choose. Breastfeeding or formula feeding, it doesn't matter to me what they choose, because they know what is best for their baby. I chose to breastfeed and I thank God every single day that I loved it and my babies were naturals. Not all moms are so lucky and even if they do breastfeed, some like to pump and give others a turn to feed baby. I breastfed my son until he was 11 months old. I would have done it longer, but he had other plans. At that point we moved on to a cup, so there was no need for a bottle that acts more like a breast.
I can, however, look back at a point in our breastfeeding journey where I would have KILLED for Tommee Tippee's Closer to Nature bottle. When Michael was 2 months old, I had to have my wisdom teeth removed. It was an ordeal that involved an infection, heavy duty pain medication, and antibiotics. I was told I couldn't breastfeed my son, but I wasn't able to get milk stored beforehand. I knew I would have to pump and dump and that he would be getting formula for a few days. I still had a couple of the pre-made bottles the hospital sent me home with and I decided to whip one out and feed him once we got home. My son had other plans. He REFUSED to take it and screamed for 2 hours. As a new mom, this traumatized me. I started crying because he wouldn't eat and I panicked. I knew it had been at least 4 hours since he had ate last and he was starving. Since my baby wouldn't take the bottle, I didn't take my meds and just decided to nurse him. It was pure hell. I would have done anything for a different bottle/nipple combo during that time.
There are going to be times where a breastfeeding mom will need to use a bottle(though I know not all will) and I am so glad I have found Tommee Tippee's Closer to Nature bottles! Don't get me wrong, they would be amazing for formula fed babies as well, but I am amazed at how much it mimics a breast. Lets take a look:
The bottle top is wider like a breast. The nipple really is closer to nature! I had never seen a bottle look so much like the real thing! I can honestly say I will have several of these on hand when I have my third. Even with my daughter, I was terrified of nipple confusion. I only left her once her whole first year because I was traumatized and thought she would be as stubborn as her brother. I've relaxed a lot, and have done a ton of research on bottles during this Bash, and I can safely say that I plan on going out a little bit more often with my next baby. Since I feel like I need to know how a bottle feels and works before a baby uses it, I tried this one out myself and it is incredibly unique in design and the way it flows.
The Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature bottles feature a anti-colic, anti-gas advanced easy vent valve, so the fluid flows out smoothly. They are also BPA and Phthalate free. This is a safe plastic bottle that allows baby to have something similar to the real thing. You can purchase these bottles at Babies R Us in 5 ounce or 9 ounces sizes for about $7.99 each!
I was also sent the Tommee Tippee Explora Truly Spill Proof Trainer 2 Pack. The name really says it all! Take a look before I go on and on:
Not only are they adorable, but they really work! I can't tell you how many sippy cups we own, of all different brands, and none of them are truly spill proof, except these! These are the only cups that I allow Violet to carry throughout the house. She thinks it is funny to shake her other cups and purposefully spill drinks all over the place, but she can't do that with these! I am one happy Mama, even if I did spoil her fun. As far as I can tell, she has no problems getting a drink out of them and she loves the handles to carry them around.
The Tommee Tippee Explora Trainer Cups are BPA free, have a unique hygiene cap that is connected and have super awesome soft spouts! You can pick up a 2 pack of these at Babies R Us for $7.99!
I was blown away at all of the products that Tommee Tippee sells! Check out a few more of the items I cannot wait to own:
The Tommee Tippee Explora Easi-Roll Bibs 2 Pack for only $6.99.
The Tommee Tippee Explora Food Pots 4 Pack for $4.99.
I highly recommend Tommee Tippee products. Check out everything they offer here and purchase some for yourself here.
